A scenographic proposal for a fifty-minute solo performance inspired by Elaine Feeney’s How to Build a Boat.

The project was developed around a single performer, a slate landscape and an off-screen chorus of voices, sound and memory. The set was conceived as a constructed terrain: part sacrificial table, part grotto, part island, part instrument.

Using Valentia slate as both material and dramaturgical anchor, the design proposed a layered memory landscape activated by the performer through movement, contact microphones and sound.

The project was not realised, but is included here as a record of design development, material research and scenographic process.
